Taiba Hospital is proud of Dr. Ali Al Hassan, Consultant in Pediatric Cardiology, for taking part in a humanitarian medical mission in Dodoma, Tanzania, dedicated to providing specialized cardiac care for children with congenital and acquired heart conditions.
The mission was organized by members of the Kuwait Pediatric Heart Foundation, the first charitable organization of its kind in Kuwait and the Arab world. It was carried out in collaboration between volunteer medical teams from Kuwait and Egypt at Benjamin Mkapa Hospital. Over the course of the mission, 70 children were screened, diagnosed, and treated, and seven complex open-heart surgeries were successfully performed.
Dr. Al Hassan played a central role in the mission. He led the evaluation and diagnosis of pediatric patients, performed echocardiographic assessments before, during, and after surgeries, and oversaw post-operative care in the intensive care unit. He also developed individualized care plans to ensure the continuity of treatment after the team’s departure.
The cases addressed included a range of complex congenital heart defects such as Tetralogy of Fallot, Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD), Atrial Septal Defects (ASD), Atrioventricular Septal Defects, Severe Pulmonary Stenosis, Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA), Cardiomyopathy, Complex Congenital Heart Disease, and Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return.
Taiba Hospital takes great pride in the humanitarian contributions of its medical professionals and their commitment to making a positive impact beyond the hospital walls. Dr. Al Hassan’s participation reflects the values of compassion, excellence, and social responsibility that the hospital continually strives to uphold.
