DR. GHANIM AL-GHANIM ON KEEPING CHILDREN HEALTHY THIS SCHOOL SEASON

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure By bazaar Staff

When we last spoke to Dr. Ghanim Al-Ghanim, Consultant Pediatrician and Neonatologist at Taiba Hospital, back in 2021, he spoke passionately about providing safe, modern, and compassionate care for children in Kuwait. At the time, he shared his philosophy on guiding families through every stage of childhood, from newborn care to adolescence, while keeping prevention at the heart of his approach. Today, in this follow-up conversation, Dr. Ghanim reflects on how his practice has evolved and offers families timely guidance for keeping children healthy as they head back to school.

One of the most striking changes Dr. Ghanim has witnessed in recent years is a heightened awareness among parents about the importance of preventive care. “Families are now coming to the clinic not only after illness strikes, but also before,” he explains. This shift has encouraged parents to take proactive steps in monitoring their child’s growth and development.

Concerns such as excessive weight gain, slowed height or weight progression, and chronic conditions like eczema, asthma, or constipation are increasingly being addressed early. “This approach helps us intervene sooner,” he adds, “making treatment more effective and outcomes more positive.”

At Taiba Hospital, Dr. Ghanim and his team follow children from birth until the age of twelve, providing individualized care at every stage. Whether it’s routine growth tracking, managing ongoing conditions, or treating infections like tonsillitis, chest or ear infections, and urinary tract infections, the emphasis remains on tailoring care to each child’s needs.

Behind the clinic doors, Taiba Hospital has invested in creating a child-focused environment designed to deliver the highest standards of pediatric care. Dedicated wings are available for children who may require intravenous fluids or inpatient admission, ensuring that families receive seamless support when more intensive care is needed.
