At Taiba Hospital, we take great pride in celebrating Dr. Asmaa Al-Kandari, Consultant of Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy, for her remarkable participation in the 14th Annual Strategies for Endoscopy Experts Conference on Gastrointestinal and Liver Disorders 2025. Representing Kuwait on an international stage, Dr. Al-Kandari joined leading experts from around the world at this prestigious event, organized by the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), to discuss groundbreaking advancements in endoscopic techniques and innovative treatment approaches.
During the conference, held in the United States and broadcast globally via virtual technology, Dr. Al-Kandari performed a Zenker’s Diverticulum endoscopic resection, a minimally invasive procedure to remove an upper esophageal pouch that causes swallowing difficulties. Using a flexible oral endoscope, she successfully executed the Endoscopic Septotomy technique with esophageal dilation, restoring normal swallowing function without the need for open surgery. The procedure incorporated artificial intelligence (AI) technology for real-time tissue analysis, enhancing diagnostic accuracy and minimizing procedural risks.
“This conference provided a valuable opportunity to exchange knowledge and expertise with global specialists in the field of endoscopy,” said Dr. Al-Kandari. “I am honored to represent Kuwait as the only participant from the Middle East and to contribute to advancing minimally invasive techniques that improve patient outcomes.”
